It started with a dog named Luca.
We had only lived in our home for a few months, but Luca had already found his way to us more than once. He lived nearby, yet somehow he kept getting out and wandering the neighborhood. One time, he even ended up waiting at our doorstep for us to let him in.
Then, on September 24, 2026, we found him again.
This time felt different.
Luca was dirty, thin, and severely matted. His coat had gotten to the point where trying to brush through it was painful for him.
So I sat with him and started brushing.
For nearly two hours, I worked through his coat, trying to make him a little more comfortable.
And through all of it, Luca just wanted affection. He wanted to be touched. He wanted someone near him. There was something about his sweetness that reminded me so much of my own dog, Coconut.
Then a song came on.
“Wanna Be Loved” by The Red Clay Strays.
Sitting there with Luca while that song played, it felt almost like he was saying the words himself.
He didn't want anything complicated.
He just wanted to be loved.
And that moment stayed with me.
THE IDEA
Luca made me think about how many animals live their entire lives waiting for someone to notice.
Some are wandering the streets. Some are sitting in shelters. Some have homes but still aren't receiving the care and attention they need.
There are so many animals who are simply overlooked.
I couldn't help all of them that day.
But I could start something that might.
That's where For the Overlooked began.
OUR MISSION
For the Overlooked is more than clothing.
It's a brand built around the belief that the animals who are easiest to pass by are still worth noticing, protecting, and fighting for.
Our goal is to create apparel and animal goods with a greater purpose and use what we build to help animals in need.
Luca may be where this story began, but the mission was never meant to end with him.
It's for every animal still waiting for someone to notice.
For the ones waiting.
For the ones forgotten.
For the ones who just want to be loved.
